The 7 m mobile DR screening bus turns a compact coach chassis into a self-contained digital radiography department for rural clinics, community screening campaigns and emergency response. The 7,300 kg GVW vehicle carries a lead-shielded examination room with 2-3 mmPb walls, ceiling and floor, a lead-glass viewing window and a lead-lined sliding door. Inside, the digital radiography system uses a 17 x 17 inch flat-panel detector and a 32-50 kW X-ray generator on a floor-mounted or ceiling-suspended tube arm. A workstation with a 3-megapixel diagnostic monitor handles DICOM 3.0 storage, printing and PACS transfer. Power comes from a 10-15 kVA diesel generator backed by a 3-5 kVA UPS, with two roof air conditioners and four stabilising jacks. Radiation safety includes door interlocks, a warning lamp, lead aprons and a survey meter. The bus accommodates one technologist and one patient at a time and can screen 60-100 patients per day. Left-hand drive standard, right-hand drive optional.

A 7 m coach converted into a complete digital radiography suite: lead-shielded room, DR system, DICOM workstation, generator and air conditioning, ready for rural screening campaigns.
The vehicle is built on a 7 m light coach chassis with a 3.8-4.2 m wheelbase and a 7,300 kg gross vehicle weight. A 3.0-4.0 L turbo diesel engine rated at approximately 110-140 kW (150-190 hp) drives through a manual or automated manual gearbox. The short body and single rear axle make the bus easy to position in village squares, hospital yards and temporary screening sites.
The layout divides the body into three zones: the driver and technologist area at the front, the lead-shielded DR room in the middle with its own entrance door, and a rear technical compartment for the generator, UPS, cables and storage. Four hydraulic or mechanical stabilising jacks level the bus before the X-ray system is used, and the entry step is illuminated for night operation.

The examination room measures approximately 2,600 x 2,200 mm with 2,050 mm headroom. Walls, ceiling and floor are lined with 2-3 mmPb lead equivalent sheet, and all joints are overlapped and sealed to avoid radiation leakage. A lead-glass window of matching equivalence lets the technologist observe the patient from the control desk, while a lead-lined sliding door closes the room during exposure.
The DR equipment package includes a 17 x 17 inch flat-panel detector, a 32-50 kW high-frequency X-ray generator, a dual-focus tube and a floor-mounted or ceiling-suspended tube stand with vertical travel. A bucky stand, a patient positioning chair and a lead apron rack complete the room. Radiation warning lamps and door interlocks prevent exposure while the door is open.

The control desk carries a medical-grade computer with a 3-megapixel diagnostic monitor, image acquisition software and DICOM 3.0 support for worklist, storage, printing and PACS transfer. Images can be reviewed, windowed and annotated immediately, then exported to a USB drive or sent over a 4G router to the referring hospital. A second monitor can be added for teaching or double-reading.
A compact laser printer or dry-film printer can be installed in the rear compartment for immediate hard copies. The workstation is powered through the UPS so that image data is not lost if the generator stops. An external network port and a roof antenna allow remote service and software updates.

A 10-15 kVA diesel generator mounted in a sound-insulated compartment supplies the X-ray generator, air conditioners and workstation. A 3-5 kVA online UPS bridges generator start-up and protects the imaging chain. Two roof-mounted air conditioners maintain 22-26 degrees Celsius in the DR room and the control area, and an exhaust fan removes heat from the technical compartment.
For site operation the bus needs a flat area of about 9 x 4 m. The jacks are deployed, the entry step and handrails are extended, and the generator is started. A typical screening day runs 60-100 chest or skeletal examinations, depending on patient preparation and image transfer. Optional equipment includes a wireless detector, a second viewing monitor, a lead screen for attendants and a wheelchair ramp.
Does the lead shielding meet radiation protection requirements?
The room is built with 2-3 mmPb lead equivalent walls, ceiling, floor, window and door, and the shielding report is provided with the vehicle. Final acceptance depends on the local radiation authority; we can supply calculations and test reports to support the licence application.
What is the daily patient throughput?
A trained technologist can complete 60-100 chest, limb or spine examinations per day, including image review and printing. Throughput depends on patient mobility, the number of views per patient and whether images are transferred over 4G or printed on board.
Can the DR system be supplied with a specific brand?
Yes. We can install the DR generator, flat-panel detector and workstation brand requested by the buyer, or supply a proven Chinese system with international service support. Please specify the detector size, generator power and DICOM requirements when requesting the quotation.
